Why Children’s Dentistry is Important
A lot of moms and dads mistakenly believe dental checkups should only start once their child has permanent teeth. Unfortunately, many young children experience dental issues that require attention. Tooth decay is common even in very young kids and may hamper palate development. Hereditary issues that are left untreated can also affect life quality over time.
Fortunately, early intervention can help avert these issues. And even if your child appears to have healthy gums and teeth, routine examinations are necessary to catch hidden issues and monitor your child’s oral health.
What to Expect During Your Child’s First Visit
It is recommended that a child be seen for it’s first dental visit by age one. At this appointment, Dr. Sims will examine your child’s teeth, take appropriate x-rays and provide dental cleaning if appropriate. Dr. Sims is happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child.
