PORCELAIN VENEERS
A porcelain veneer is an ultra-thin shell designed to cover the front of the tooth and improve its appearance. A veneer can be used to enhance tooth shape, colour, and size.
Porcelain veneers are stain-resistant and are excellent at mimicking the light reflecting properties of natural teeth. Porcelain veneers are also durable and can resist chipping.
Porcelain veneers are recommended for:
- Stained teeth
- Worn down teeth
- Broken or chipped teeth
- Misaligned or irregularly shaped teeth
- Gapped teeth
Procedure
To prepare a tooth for a veneer, an extremely small amount of enamel will be removed from the tooth surface, so as to make room for the veneer. Next, Dr. Sims will make an impression of your tooth which will then be sent out to a dental laboratory, where your veneer will be created. You will be given a temporary veneer in the meantime. Then 2-3 weeks later, you will return for your next appointment and your final veneers will be installed.
